Working within its original footprint, this renovation was an exercise in restraint and revival. The brief called for a complete reimagining within the existing walls — trading white and grey for a warm, seventies-inspired palette grounded in Australian timber, terrazzo and rich marble.

INTRO
On a leafy Brisbane street, this endearing turn-of-the-century workers’ cottage has been thoughtfully reimagined for a young family. The design focused on creating a home that functions effortlessly while celebrating its early 1900s character. A new floor plan connects the kitchen, dining, laundry, and powder room, improving both flow and usability. It optimises storage and includes a flexible a dining area that serves for family meals and weekend hangs.

The Grove
Original details such as the pressed metal ceilings and stained glass windows were enhanced by the use of timeless materials such as checkerboard travertine floors, Carrara marble benchtops, and nickel hardware. The colour palette honours the dynamism of a young family and the rhythm of everyday living.

A 100 year old family home given new life
Our clients understood the importance of the interior being true to its location and that a richness and robustness was warranted. A farm is no place for neutral. As in every project, we were inspired by the home's origins and the interior tells the story of 1900's Australia through both colour and pattern but in the context of today.
